Dr. Robert Brinley Jones
4 August 2025We are proud to share that, following our announcement in May, all four entrance signs to the town of Llandovery have now been updated to reflect Llandovery College’s historic role in the formation of Welsh Rugby.
This recognition is a significant moment for both the College and the wider community, with Llandovery now proudly bearing the title: “The Birthplace of Rugby in Wales.”
This project has been a true community collaboration, and we are incredibly grateful to Councillor Handel Davies, Cyngor Sir Gâr Carmarthenshire County Council, Llandovery Town Council, and The Welsh Rugby Union for their shared vision and support in bringing this initiative to life.
As Town and Gown, we are united in celebrating this achievement — honouring our proud past while continuing to inspire future generations.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
